All of them! No food is forbidden in the Zone.
There are no1 foods that are inherently "bad" for us. Those foods that do bear this label can place the blame fairly on overindulgence. A point perfectly demonstrated by the Zone: just by reducing the quantity of carbohydrates in our diet to a level closer to that of protein and fat, the Zone has a remarkable affect on our health.

Now because of the reduced need for carbohydrates you will have to eat less of those types that are very dense, like bread and rice and cereal, and replace them with high fibre fruits and vegetables. By doing this you will not only reduce your need for insulin, but also satisfy your hunger and increase your intake of micronutrients. Including more fruits and vegetables in your diet really will improve your success with the Zone.
Ensuring the adequate intake of protein is another important aspect of the Zone. Even though we don't recommend large quantities of protein, we do think it's important to eat some every meal and snack.
We don't want you eating them all the time, but now and then is fine.
