Both pure protein powders and those with the 40-30-30 ratio of carbs protein and fat are helpful for reaching the Zone.
Protein powders usually contain between 75 and 95% protein, so they're not actually pure, but they contain very little carbs or fat. There's about a zillion brands - some are mostly whey protein, some soy protein, some mixed, some are flavoured and some plain.
They're usually added with fruit or honey to water or milk and whizzed up to make a drink, but you can also use them to fortify other types of foods such as cereals or even cakes.
In the big scheme of things the quality doesn't vary much between brands, so if you find one you like the flavour of go for it, and please tell us about it!
I currently use and sell Nature's Way powders.
These contain a favourable balance of protein carbs and fat, as is. Just add liquid and you're away.
Megaburn's two Megafuel powders are the only ones I know of available here, but Dr Sears makes his own which you can get from America or New Zealand.
